Three possible outcomes:

1. Clarkson will be reinstated.

2. Clarkson leaves the BBC (his choice or otherwise), Top Gear returns with May and Hammond signing new contracts and Clarkson is replaced by a new host. Clarkson may go to another TV channel.

3. Clarkson leaves the BBC (his choice or otherwise), May and Hammond refuse to sign new contracts without Clarkson and the three presenters go to another TV channel. BBC hold all of the rights to Top Gear (Clarkson sold his share a few years ago) and bring TG back with three new presenters.

Without Clarkson TG's ratings will dive, that is what happened to the original (or 'old') Top Gear after Clarkson left in 1998 and in 2001 the BBC axed it.

James May says he won't return without Clarkson and producer and long-term friend Clarkson Andy Wilman has also departed.

We all know what happens to a TV show when the main stars are replaced.... ;)

By the way, For the Love of Cars is back, started last Sunday so if you missed it see if it's on 4Seven or 4od.

Channel Five's Classic Car Show is still going.

'Final' episode of Top Gear, pieced together from footage filmed before that incident, is on tonight at 8pm on BBC2.

Neflix, ITV and Amazon Prime said to be in the running to produce a motoring show featuring the three ex-Top Gear presenters.

As mentioned in the media a few weeks back, Chris Evans is lined up to present Top Gear next year.

The most recent season of Fifth Gear is now ITV4 having previously been shown earlier this year on History (???) channel. Quite how ITV4 manages to find space for it alongside the Dirty Harry or Connery/Moore-era Bond films is beyond me. ;)

Car SOS is already back on More4 (previously on another channel).

A new series of James May's Cars of the People kicks off on Sunday, with a look at the post-WWII car industries in Japan and Germany.

Its a shame that TG didn't hire him .. after all he has been there before and I think he is one the best in terms of car control..

I guess the new TG lineup will get some new fans who maybe didn't appreciate Clarksons excellent TV presentation style but many of the older fans (like me) won't watch it any more because
1. they hate Chris Evans and his inane Disc Jockey style and false jollity (he is OK at talking to kids,  but not adults).
2. they just hate Chris Evans for no good reason except he is eminently hate-able .
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

The Cars That Made Britain Great on Channel 5 is worth watching. The series must be coming to the end soon but you maybe able to view the older episodes on demand.
