I read that the colour of a car can affect it's safety as the brighter colours are better seen. The yellow is the nearest to hi-vis you can get. I don't know if you can get lower insurance for a yellow car though.

I remember many years ago, I selected Yellow for my first Austin Metro, because at the time the UK Fire Service was thinking of changing to Yellow, in the interest of improved visibility,  from the traditional Red.
Of course it never happened.
Since then all my Jazz cars have been Red.
I don’t believe the colour makes any difference to insurance costs, but maybe it should?

I think it can sometimes, if its a fancy pearlescent finish. Or something non standard may be regarded as a modification  . (so dont spray black stripes on it to make it a Tiger or wasp   ;D)   .    And some colours can affect how easy a car is to sell and hence its value. Good when buying, less good when selling.

Remember some of the colours that were  fashionable in the  1970's and 80's  :-*   And white cars were uncommon not long ago .Now every other cars seems to be white   -including mine.

For me, the worst colours, by far, are the Dark Grays and Blues, that blend in perfectly with the Tarmac!!!
I just don’t understand why they are so popular?

Best to check insurance cost before purchase, can be a big problem on mk1 Jazz due to catalytic converter theft.

It'll be easy to find in a car park, and safety benefits as others have said. Go for it.

As ever though, with any used car, colour is not important as condition and history. On the MK1, rust can be a major issue. Be sure to check the car for this, and have a loot at the MOT history online to see if anything flagged on previous mot tests. https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

Re attracting vandals. If someone is of a mind to harm your car, I can't image colour will be the reason.

I believe it was Coventry fire brigade who were to try this in new tenders with RR engines (worked in RR aero engines at time and in works info).
Seemed very sensible move to me, but then maybe daytime visibility and human b nature equating Red to danger played a part.
