Title: Chris_Music - 2005 Jazz Sport in Vivid Blue Pearl
Post by: Chris_Music on March 06, 2011, 11:35:25 PM
Hey Guys

I finally got the Jazz I was after

Its a 2005 Honda Jazz Sport in Vivid Blue Pearl.

It has done 90k and the paint wasn't in particularly great condition when I got it. But 2 days, 2 coats of wax and a lot of touch up paint later, she's looking much much better :D! I am very pleased with my purchase!

I dont really have many plans for it. I have already installed an Xcarlink iPod adaptor I had left over from my Accord. And I will probably get a decent gear gaiter and a Type R gear knob, possibly some Mugen Pedals, maybe some wind deflectors if a set comes up, and then leave it at that, as the sport is pretty much great looking already.

I would add the rear spoiler as it finishes the 'sporty' look perfectly.

They Do look nice, but they cost over £200 from Honda, and I cant justify the cost!

Edit, just got a quote from Honda for £294 inc Vat for one (painted) :o!

I notice you have no i-DSi nameplate on the engine cover - mine's also dropped off at some point!

Yea, I ordered one today while I was at Honda having a free checkup, cost me £7 inc Vat.

I dunno how it could have come off!

Got my i-DSI Badge from Honda today.
Its actually a metal sticker, so I can understand how they come off after time.
Lets hope this one doesn't come off, at £7 a time :P!

It has red numbers on the top, but for some reason, I couldn't get them to come out in the picture!
When I get some time, I will spray the black nut on the gear knob silver, Or I will see If I have a silver nut lying around!

More updates to follow soon!

Hopefully I will have the car pretty much finished by next month!

hello from fitfreak as well  :P u have any wheels planned for the beast?? =)

One of the things I really liked about the sport (apart from the bodykit) was the 15" wheels, which I feel work perfectly with the standard ride height!

But I would love a set of white 16" Buddyclub P1 SF's, but then I would have to lower it for it to not look odd. I don't plan on spending a lot of money on this car (I made that mistake with my old Civic). I managed to knock £300 off the asking price of the car when I bought it, So I have set my budget for Mods at £300, which should allow me to do everything I want to do to the Jazz :)!

Another Small Update!

Got another goody in the post today!

A set of Mugen Pedals:

I am bit annoyed with the seller on eBay, as it was marked as a brand new set of Mugen Pedals, but they are clearly used and have just been repackaged! But, for £20 delivered, I cant really complain I guess! But I have sent him an email anyway. Hopefully he will give me some money off :P!

Anyway, heres them fitted:

Old:

Mugen:

I have to say, I really miss having them in a car, I loved them when I had my Civic. Because I have bigger feet, its great having bigger pedals, It feels better when driving!

The spoiler is currently being made and should be here next week, and my Wind deflectors are just leaving china, The arm rest is still in China, as far as I know, and My K&N filter is on its way from a UK seller!

So more updates to follow soon :)!

I have ordered the optional extra spoiler for the Jazz (replica of course).
And the wind deflectors are Mugen Replicas, ordered them from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250649176944&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2680wt_1141 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250649176944&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2680wt_1141)

Which model Jazz did you get in the end?

I have a tracking number for it and its still in China, but its in a major city, so it should be leaving the country soon I hope! I would imagine it would be here probably the end of next week!

The yellow ones look nice, I was thinking about getting one, but I thought the colour was a bit too striking for my liking, and wanted a blue one instead! I look forward to seeing what you do with it! I saw a nice one with white buddyclubs on it on fitfreaks!

After you I`m planning to buy a similar K&N filter but first of all do you feel any performance/reaction difference on the car with this filter?
Did you buy it here: http://www.performance-filters.co.uk/ (http://www.performance-filters.co.uk/) ?

I havent actually driven the car since fitting it, lol! I don't really do a huge amount of driving to be honest, so it probably wont be driven until Tuesday, and that will be a short journey, but next sunday Im going up to north london, so I will see if I notice any difference and I will post my findings on here!

And I bought my filter from a company on eBay for £33.34 Delivered, they were the cheapest I could find: LINK (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400142133750&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_3158wt_907")

Thanks for the info!
Usually I`m covering just over 3000 miles a month so it may be beneficial to me if I was invest in one.

Did abit of driving today and the car "seems" to pull abit better, but this could be the placebo effect. As for Extra MPG, I will have to do more extensive testing. I am going to start using Shell V-power from now on, so the new MPG will be with that!

Spoiler Arrived Today!!

Its a pretty good copy to be honest. They moulded the original Honda spoiler and just made copies from that, so the fitment is spot on.

You can even see the old Honda Logo on it, and there are other numbers and marks from the original spoiler!

The cheapest Iv been quoted over the phone for painting and fitting was £100, so lets hope they dont have to do much work to it to get it prepped for painting. The corner was slightly damaged in transit. I will ask the body shop if this is going to up the price, if it does, I will ask the seller to give me some money off because of the damage!

Mugen Replica Wind deflectors are stuck in customs at the moment, and my Arm rest is in Hong Kong ready for export. Also got a Genuine DC2 gear-knob on the way, I couldn't get on with the replica one!

More Updates soon!
----- Double Post Prevention - new post below: 1300955968 -----
I am sending the spoiler back tomorrow.
The fitment maybe perfect, but the actual quality of the spoiler is quite poor, so most body-shops quoted me a lot more money because of the prep work that was needed to get it in a paintable condition. it would have cost me £200-250 to have it painted and fitted, and I could get a brand new pre painted spoiler for £294, So I will just keep an eye out for a Jazz with a spoiler being broken!

My Armrest Arrived today :D

Not bad piece of kit for £26 :P! a genuine Honda arm rest console is well over £200 :O, but in fairness, that is a complete new console, while this is just an arm rest.

A brilliant little purchase, I think all Jazz owners should buy one of these, they are really nice to have, and dont get in the way of the hand brake, like the other "generic" armrests.

The colour isnt a perfect match in the pictures, but in real life, its not really very noticeable, and its not bad quality either.

Wind deflectors have just cleared customs, so they should hopefully be here tomorrow :D!

Some good progress there Chris.

Really like that arm rest and bargin price!

Cheers gary, they do arm rests for the GE as well, but they hang over the console and IMO, really look out of place, and not flush with the interior!

A Package arrived from China today, I wonder what it could be ;D

Mugen Wind Deflectors (Replica :P)

Also my genuine Honda DC2 Gear-Knob arrived as well
(http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l121/yamazaki2006/Honda%20Jazz/DSC04615.jpg)

Fitted

The genuine gear knob is soooo much better than that replica I had, its really comfortable and much nicer to use! Genuine Honda never disappoints!

Wind deflectors will have to wait till I go to my parents house and can give the car a good clean before I fit them :P!

Thats it for updates for now, Im hopefully going to get a new set of Mats for the Jazz soon, but until I can get a spoiler, there wont be any more buying to be done :P!

I Finally got a hold of some decent second hand car mats from eBay! Iv been waiting for ages for a decent set to come up at a cheap price :P!

Out with the Old

And in with the Slightly Used :P

The new mats could do with a good shampoo to get out all the soiling, but I will do that when I have some more time! Im just grateful to not have a hole in my mat now :P!

----- Double Post Prevention - new post below: 1302691328 -----

I really like the standard Enkei wheels on my Jazz, but to me they looked too standard! So I bought some Enkei Decals to make them look abit more aftermarket :P!

I might get some Enkei Centre caps, Iv not decided! I think the Honda ones are not too bad anyway, as they are the same colour as the wheels and don't particularly stand out!

This is the Stingy mans modifying :P!

Major Update

After the poor experience I had with the replica spoiler I purchased, I decided to go on the hunt for a genuine Honda spoiler. But the UK spoiler was only an optional extra, and very few people ticked that box when buying a Jazz, so my only other option was to buy it new, which, when I got quoted from a discount Honda distributer, would be £170 unpainted or £250 pre-painted, then I would need to have it fitted. I didnt really fancy paying these prices, but It would be near to impossible to get hold of a used one!

But it was shortly after that I realised I had made a really stupid mistake >:( ! When I was looking at Modified Jazz's, I was looking purely at the US market, as they are the leaders in this field, and I had failed to spot that their spoilers are actually completely different to the UK one. The US and JDM market spoiler has little points at the end which make it look more like the EK9 spoiler, but the UK one is basically a tray that curves at the ends to follow the body curves, which I really didn't like as much.

After finding out this information, I set about trying to get hold of a USDM spoiler, as the USDM spoiler is exactly the same as the JDM spoiler but the JPY is too high at the moment and the USD is at a low against the GBP. I was lucky enough to find a guy on FitFreaks.net, who had just bought him self a Mugen Spoiler, and he had his standard spoiler just sitting around, and seeing as all the Honda Fit Sports come standard with the spoiler in the US, he didn't think he would be able to sell it. I was lucky enough that it was in the same blue (Vivid Blue Pearl) as my Jazz. So we talked, and he agreed to sell it to me and send it to the UK.

Well six days later, and no custom charge :D, it arrived in perfect condition! After having the genuine artefact, you can really appreciate the quality and the craft Honda put into their products! Plus the ABS plastic is so light, it barely weighs anything!

USDM/JDM Honda Fit Sport Spoiler

Heres it when I got it:

I took it to my local bodyshop and nearly fainted when they told me how much it would cost to fit it (£70), But I checked around a couple of others and they were a lot more! I guess because they have to cut off and sand down the 3 centre studs, drill 2 threaded holes, paint the holes so they don't rust, align it all up and bond it on, so I guess its alright.

Heres it fitted:
It really finishes the car off I think :P!

As far as I know, Im the only person in the UK with this spoiler on their Jazz :D!

I also thought I would see what the H on my centre caps would look like blue, so I got my trusty blue marker out and coloured them in :P!

I will do a better job when I have some more time :D!

I will get some better pictures of the car with the spoiler on when the weather is a bit sunnier.

I dont really have any more plans for the car. At some point I will sand down and repaint the callipers, as they look pretty rusty round the edges. Im sure I will find a few little things to do, but I doubt I will be doing anything major to it like lowering it or putting new wheels on.

Im happy with the way it looks with the spoiler on now :)!

Cheers mate, Yea I want to get Enkei RPF1's, but I just cant justify spending that kind of money on my Jazz, so I set about making the standard wheels look more aftermarket, as they do look pretty good I think!
I got them for £1.49 from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280656982963&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Looking good looks like mine. Our spoilers here in Thailand for the 05 GDs have there mounting points. Two on the ends like yours and one in the middle and the bolts have little trapdoor like covers that pop on and off to get at the bolts.

I think this spoiler is the same as the one thats on your Jazz, we unfortunately didn't get offered this spoiler :(! But it worked out much much cheaper buying this one from the US, than buying the UK spoiler from Honda, and it looks much nicer in my opinion :D!

Sprint wheels are nice! Theres a Black K20 Jazz in Scotland with some SW9s on it, and it looks ace!
I quite like the standard wheels my self, but If I was going to buy some, I would probably get SW9s!

I wanted a decal of this forum to stick on my Jazz, but I couldn't find anyone else who had done it, so I designed my own decal, and with permission from the administrator, had it made up to stick on my Jazz :)!

If anyone else is interested in one of these decals, I will give you the email of the guy who made mine up :)!

I also got one for FitFreaks made up :D!

One trick I did for "Looks" is to spray the rear wheel well with shiny spray bomb black. It's pretty easy to do even it you don't want to take the wheel off to to it.

Some masking tape on the lip of the wheel well then just spray the forward potion in the front part ahead of the rear tire and you can really coat it as an marks or runs get hidden by the rough surface.

It really makes a difference you can see when your car is parked and you walk up to it from a distance.

And I have done it every spring and the build up of paint makes the surface smooth so it washes easier too.

So I take it your Jazz has bare metal rear wheel wells? Over here our rear wells are totally lined with black plastic. This makes it easy to keep clean and during a clear out before a house move last year I found some old Halfords tyre dressing that I spray in the wheel well.

Hi

Well, I definitely noticed a difference when I fitted the K&N filter, the car responded better and felt a tiny bit quicker. But, and its a big but, I don't know if this due to fitting the K&N filter, or if its simply because the K&N filter is clean, coming from a really filthy stock air filter. To properly test the difference, I would try a brand new honda one against a K&N filter. But either way Im happy, as I needed a new filter, and the K&N will last for ever.

I would be interested to see how yours looks with the tints, as I have been thinking of getting some for a while now.

Let me know how you get on with your K&N, it would be interesting to compare.

Set up an account at http://photobucket.com/ (http://photobucket.com/) and you can upload your pictures to there then simply copy the code that starts and ends in this:

Deflectors are great, not had any problems with them, they aren't going anywhere!

3M tape is more than enough to hold them on. The standard Honda badges on your car are held on by the same stuff, and they seem to stay on pretty well :P. Just be sure you clean the surface with alcohol first and be sure to get it right first time, as I heard of a guy who bought the kit, and put it on wrong, so he took it off and re fitted it, but it blew off in the wind later. Thats because the 3M forms a bond to the surface its stuck to, so it doesn't come off, but if you break that bond, it wont stick the same, so be sure you get it right first time!

Hope that helps!

Who you calling old fart, I'm 23 :P! lol.

I dont know if they can be bough from a UK seller, but I would expect a huge markup from a UK seller!
I had no problem buying mine from China, it arrived in about a week with no customs charges and was well packaged :D!

Nice mods - I have pretty much done the same with my wife's Jazz Sport with a few additions, HID, LED's all round, parking sensors, T1R Carbon Fibre filter and a few more bits and bobs. But your alloys are in amazing condition. We have the same but they have started to bubble around the cap :(

Reading your thread has inspired me to take a few pics of our Jazz - when it comes back from repair (some silly lady drove into the side of us >:( )

UPDATE

Weather was nice on the weekend, so I finally got around to painting my Calipers!

Halfords had a nice Blue paint that I thought matched the paint work well:

Gave the brakes a quick clean before painting:

Left it over night to dry before I put on some 'Honda' Caliper stickers", I also Painted the H centre cap blue:

However, not keen on the Mugen badges but each on their own.

imo, the badges should only be on if there are proper Mugen parts on your car

The clutch and brake are 3M double sided tape with a screw plate to secure it, and the accelerator pedal needs to be screwed into the existing pedal. I would suggest only screwing in the top two screws, as you wont notice the holes as much when you take off the pedal (if you want to) and you only really need 2 screws to hold it in place to be honest.

The job is pretty east, its just abit fiddly.

Good luck!

Thanks, Chris. I shall get ordering a set now. I purchased my K&N air filter from eBay. It arrived this morning but isn't the right size. I rung the car shop who sold it to me (same as you) and they said K&N don't make an air filter for the '05 Sport.  >:(  I can certainly see they do, after admiring yours on this thread! After much debate and links to this forum they agreed. Right one should be delivered soon.

Thanks again.  :)
