Log on issues
« on: January 29, 2019, 09:58:27 AM »
When I logged in this morning I was initially denied access and shown a screen that suggested I was a robot or my computer was infected by a Trojan and was being controlled remotely. I had a couple of simple addition problems to do before being allowed in. The screen was in English on one side and some other language on the other.
I have had no problems logging out and back in.
My computer is clean and virus free.

This is the screen I am getting.

My computer has been virus checked, and clear, again since my previous post.

Try running the free home copy of Malwarebytes

https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Click on Home version Explore then on Free version Download

That should flush out any monsters other virus protection does not.

Ran Malawarebytes and it came up with 54 possible unwanted programs, but nothing ominous. I would have been disappointed if my expensive AVG Internet Security had failed to find something that Malawarebytes had.

I've had this hppen when logging on while overseas. I presume it's some form of anti-spammer check.

It doesn't like your internet IP address for some reason, possibly marked as a source of spam.

If your IP address is dynamic, it could be related to a previous user of the address you have been assigned. If you are on a fixed IP, after checking any connected PCs or smartphones, it might be worth checking to see if there are any known exploits or security holes in the internet router you are using.

It could also be that your assigned IP has been spoofed at some point, and used as a bogus IP for spammers elsewhere in the world.

An IP address issue looks the most likely. As luck would have it the error logs don't explain why it happened, but as said above, a previous user of the IP address probably got up to mischief and it ended up on some blacklist.

My mobile broadband gives me a variety of IP addresses, so it is pot luck!
