Indicators not flashing
« on: December 18, 2017, 09:02:07 AM »
As of this morning, my indicators are not flashing.
They just light up.
I've searched the internet, but I can't seem to find if there is a flash unit relay anywhere.
Just two fuses that are described with "Turn signal/hazard flasher control circuit (Has built into gauge assembly)"

What does this mean?
And where to start looking now?

I see it now!
But where is it located in the car? :)

After further investigation, it appears it is mounted on the instrument panel, so it is probably a PCB mounted device. Lucky white heather!

Uh, I don't understand what you mean by that. (I'm Dutch, so my English isn't really that great ;))
What is a PCB?
And where to find the relay in the car?

Is this the thing I am looking for?

There are relays mounted next to fuses in both the interior fusebox under steering column and the one under the bonnet next to battery - relays (switching devices for heavy current draw like heated windows, headlights,  direction indicators etc.)) are plugged in to make replacement easy.  The flasher unit is probably in the interior fusebox below the steering column.

When you remove fusebox covers there is a guide moulded into the plastic showing position of each fuse and relay.

Attached is .DOC with a couple of photos of Haynes manual wiring diagram, there are two direction indicator  'activation' relays shown on diagram 8 under 'central locking' (device 118 and 119 ) and the on diagram 3 is the normal steering column switch and indicator bulbs show (3 each side of car).  Do the indicators flash when you operate central locking from key fob ?

I've checked the URL below, but I can't find it there.

Or is that a dumb reply and should I check on the car first...?  :-[

It looks like it may be a Printed Circuit Board relay, mounted on the back of the instrument cluster. I hope not, but the indications are that is what it is.

Sounds like that is expensive to replace and not a DIY job..?

Or could it be a blown fuse?

Did you test if the Hazard warning switch is working - if it fails to operate you need to swop the relay which should be near the fuse box inside your Jazz.

I doubt it, but it is always worth checking. F3 in the passenger fuse box does the instrument cluster as well as headlight levelling and a couple of other things. And F4 says indicators (courtesy of Haynes manual).

if fuse was blown i would imagine the bulbs would not light up at all...

I have added photos of Haynes wiring diagram to my first post above (MSword DOC attachment)

Thank you all for your replies.
I think I'm gonna go cry in the cover now and shame my head off.

I'm at work right now and just went to the car in the parking lot.
Turned the ignition on and voila...everything worked again...
