Bear in mind DashCams run on FIVE VOLTS! !2V into 5V doesn't go!! (not for long anyway) I 'fried' two dashcams before realising that. It took a few weeks, but it happens.
So make sure you get a voltage dropper (EBay)
I haven't hard wired a Dashcam on any of my Hondas and can pass no comment on the connector mentioned.
On my Skodas I used a piggy back fuse connector on the rear wiper* circuit as I wanted it to switch off when engine not running if you buy a camera with a battery it will usually wake up and lock a clip if the car is impacted. On my 'TOGUARD' you can adjust the impact level.
I use https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403970638552
The picture quality is amazing. No GPS so no speed, apart from that it is brilliant. The second Toguard camera I have had. They are excellent value.
I couldn't be bothered with wiring a separate rear cam, so opted for the internal which does at least give you a bit of rear protection.
* cars (all modern ones) fitted with 'Canbus' electrickery can be very picky about being interfered with, so Kremmen's warning is valid. That Is why I chose the rear wiper, as it spends most of the time not working. I never had any problems so doing.

Honda Jazz Mk1 2002-2008 / Steering wheel shenanigans
« Last post by c.lday44 on Today at 10:23:11 AM »
Hi all. I have a 2007 SE Manual with the plastic-y steering wheel - I'd like to switch to the nicer leather steering wheel but I only ever find them with the 7 speed button and paddles of an automatic. Is it possible to take apart the steering wheels and put the silver plastic piece, buttons, etc from my old wheel into the frame of the new leather one, or is it not removable?

Thanks!

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Left mirror blocked

Hi everyone,

I reported this issue to my service during my the last visit there, they told me that it's an issue recognized by Honda and they have planned a date to change the motor part that close the mirror.
I hope that this info could be useful for others.

Do you mean a sensor that warns that the bonnet is not fully latched closed?

I wasn't aware that these cars had such sophistication. Mine is one of the higher specifications and I cannot find it mentioned in the owner's handbook.

The actual cars will last almost as long as you want if they're looked after, the problem is that spare parts on modern cars are so expensive that if they go wrong there will come a point where the repair can't be justified against the value of the vehicle.

Years ago the car life expectancy was 10 years, after that rust got it

I'm amazed that 8G 2006 Civics are still selling and from the pictures are still in very good condition and they are 18 years old

It's all about choice, these days manufacturers are giving vehicles 5-7 year life after which time you dispose of them .
Most Japanese car are well made. The set up in UK is odd with fewer and fewer dealers sable to meet weekly monthly sales/ finance
targets. If you test drive the car and like it great buy it with the warranty.
We love Honda car & bikes however the brewery models are too stuffed full of electronics.

Now I’ve read of the following problems with the Mk4 Jazz:

Brake failure
Door mirror motors failing
Seat base sides cracking
Delaminating windscreens

I’m really going off the idea of buying a brand new one as these failures are on cars that can’t be any older than 4 years and most seem to have low mileage

In all fairness: Your list above shows the accumulated failures reported by a multitude of forum members.
This doesn't necessarily mean, that every Jazz is bound to experience all of these.

The only really concerning item on this list imho is the brake simulator failure!
I'm not so much concerned about the failure itself (********** happens to all manufacturers).

What I find very disappointing / disconcerting is that Honda UK (akaik) hasn't officially accepted liability for what is obviously a manufacturing defect on a safety-relevant part of their cars!

@Ninanina:  Please do voice your concerns about this to the Honda dealership and please tell them it keeps you from a purchase and makes you turn to Toyota!

I haven't had a puncture requiring a spare for over 20 years, that one happened in Cornwall on a country lane after I'd passed someone repairing a wall, managed to pick up a nail somehow.

More recently our Seat Mii picked up a nail in one tyre but we didn't even realise for several weeks as the puncture was so slow, it was picked up when we had it serviced. The car had only done about 1000 miles so it was annoying having to buy a new tyre when the damaged one had done so few miles. Perhaps todays tyres are more resilient than the older type as suggested by Nicksey
Our Skoda CityGo came with a spare (deep under the boot!).  Surprised your Mii didn't.
