here is an interesting article from 'autobulbs' website about headlights and foglights according to highway code.

they say 300,000  accidents a year caused in UK by misuse of foglights  :o,  but don't know where that figure came from.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I call BS on that figure.

It's lazy/inattentive for people to use fog lights when it's not foggy.
Moaning about using fog lights when it's foggy is just plain silly.

Common sense pays.

On a different note, I spotted a new shape Civic this evening in the dark driving at 55-60mph with only it's LED daylights. 70mph dual carriageway and the rear was totally unlit.  :o

its another Euro law that was not thought through,  I have seen a few cars with only DRL's on at the front and nothing at the rear in totally dark conditions,   but look on the bright side, if they didn't have the DRL's coming on automatically they may not have any lights on at all, probably too busy chatting on the phone to realise what's going on.  I have also seen (or nearly not seen) very dark coloured cars in the dark with no lights on, even a warning headlight flash gets no response - dooohhhhh brain dead :'(

here is the way 'swiftcover insurance' worked out the 300,000 accidents figure - there are lies, damn lies and there are figure extrapolated from a small sample  :D
