What is the average insurance cost for Honda Jazz EX CVT ?
« on: November 07, 2017, 10:58:21 AM »
Hi, I have only had my Honda Jazz EX CVT 2011, since September, I think my insurer thinks I have a Ferrari, so I would like to find a cheaper insurance company. I am 67 full no claims.
Would appreciate any help and advice.
I bought the Honda Jazz, as what I thought was going to be cheaper to run than my previous vehicle, which was a Renault Trafic minibus, which was wheelchair accessible for my Wife's wheelchair, my Wife passed away in December 2016, so very reluctantly, I could no longer afford to run the Renault , so deceided on the Honda, but this seems to be at the moment just as costly, insurance wise.
So any help and advice please, thank you

Use a Price Comparison website or three..If you have >5 years NCB and don't live in a major city, then £250 or less should be attainable.

Edit: I am 70, use Saga and pay under £220 fully comp , 10+years NC

I use Sainsbury's Bank. Last year, with no NCB (it was a second car), it cost £280 for fully comp.
This year, with 70% NCB, protected NCB and lower excess cost me £230. I am 69 years of age.
I used Go Compare and selected the cheapest that suited my requirements, and a company I had heard of!

Well I never pay more than about £160, 64 full NCD, NC protection etc. It may be my postcode helps as that can have a bearing. Also I park on my drive overnight but I'm still working which may or may not make a difference as I have to have it insured also for business use. I try the comparison sites and mostly find Compare the Market comes up the best. As I also get two for one cinema tickets and a Meerkat toy but they do not influence me at all.

Thank you all very much, for your very helpful replies.
I went on to confused.com got cheapest quote with the AA £237, so I am very pleased with this, considering what my previous company were charging, that company have also just charged me £79 to cancel my policy, I told them they should be called Trump insurance as they want to be Billionaires over night.

But I am very happy with the quote, which I have accepted now.

Thank you all very much again for your help

PS, Just an update, I thought that my previous company were charging me £79, to cancel the policy. I then checked my credit card on line, they have actually charged me £179, I phoned them straight away, told them this is absolute daylight robbery, I said at least Dick Turpin wore a mask, they still as yet, have not given me a breakdown, as to how they can justify these charges

When I spoke to my insurers, on the phone, I told them the car was garaged overnight, and they said it made no difference. The single biggest factor was the post code.

I'm 70, full NCB and have found LV good on price and service.
Beware just accepting a renewal quote, many companies rely on inertia and blind acceptance. Always haggle, and be prepared to move away to another co. - works wonders.

As I have said on here before I have three times been quoted for Nottingham city because I have an NG postcode, totally ignoring the numbers after the NG. It is, in fact, in Lincolnshire.

I wonder if that, is my problem? I live in a quiet part of Derbyshire. With an S, (Sheffield), postcode.....

I have, never, had a sensible quote, from Saga. Or many similar, others.

My renewal, with More Than. Up £60. To £286..... Saga quote, £311.

Quotemehappy, £209......  :D

This site here shows you how the insurance companies set your risk via post code.
http://www.motorcarinsuranceuk.co.uk/post-code-ratings.php
Once you look up your letter code (such as NG) you just add the number to show the insurance risk.
I am going to be moving from a B to a D* and hate to think what that will do to my premiums.

Which puts me, as a C rating. Which answers a lot of my doubts.......

Not advised. That would be considered a fraudulent proposal and your insurance would be null and void.
