Knock sensor - 1 pin or 2 pin
« on: June 30, 2021, 07:35:21 PM »
Good day gents,

I replaced a GD1 L13A1 engine. Now I have a conundrum. The old engine had a 1 pin knock sensor (bolt type) and the new engine has a two pin knock sensor (donut type).

Because the wire harness was wired originally for the 1 pin so I removed the donut type and replaced it with the original bolt type sensor.

Now I get an intermittent MIL for a knock sensor fault which resets its self after every restart.

My question is, can I use either knock sensor or was the new engine designed for the donut type sensor? Or could the original knock sensor just be faulty and I’m over thinking the issue?

Thanks
