Wheel nuts, Torque wrench, and Nm
« on: June 29, 2021, 09:17:33 PM »
I may remove the 15 inch alloys on my 2008 Series 1.
Is it worth investing in a torque wrench? And if so anyone know the Nm required?

Thanks as always everyone.

I have a torque wrench for changing wheels, useful as have 3 cars that all get changed on to winter wheels/tyres and back.  Also good for checking, ie redoing, the nuts/bolts (Skoda) after a car has had work done on it that involved wheel off.   ISTR 115nm is the official number for both of my Jazzez, I do mine up to 120.

D3DSL, any recommendations for a good quality torque wrench that will go to at least 120Nm ?

The only torque wrench I have ever used on wheel nuts,  extended length to remove nuts ( your own or other you may be helping, which I have found can be mega tight if tyre place / garage has been involved ),  and short length to tighten nuts ( short length restricts amount of torque you can apply)..   has a reversible socket with both 17 and 19mm A/F nuts.  Fits easily into every vehicle.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I just bough TW from screwfix. I keep a small pry bar in the boot. Not keen on those angled wrench things.
