2002-2008 fitted car mats
« on: June 20, 2009, 10:05:22 AM »
I seem to have read somewhere that the "mat" situation in a 2005 Jazz is a more complex situation than normal.....so i tried to source some (with the non slip clip attachment) the ordinary claim of the underneath being non slip doesn't work.
A rather complex shape to the front mats so the universal ones do not fit without cutting.........a lot of E Bay sites offer the mats but not that many with the attachment.(except the Honda mats) ........is this an ongoing problem or has anyone got a remedy..........Joe 8)

I would buy the Honda ones because I wasted £50 on 'cannon' ones only to be disappointed. They aren't the quality fitted ones that I expected.

Stick with the Honda ones cause as far as I know there the only ones with the attachment to hold the drivers mat

The problem with the so called nonslip mats on the drivers side is that on the drivers side has a plastic mat already built-in and this causes those mats to move around

Many thanks Jazzyb thats what i found also but i did hear the Honda ones are not that good for the money, also quite expensive.
But it does seem like the only solution to get the attachments to hold the mats without them slipping under the accelerator...........Joe

I paid just under £50 for my Honda Jazz mats at the local dealership.  ;D
They're much better than the general ones I had before, and they weren't cheap! :'(

The Honda ones? Yes, and came with all the necessary clips!

i just bought some from ebay for about £20 including delivery, from this seller http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/ALL-STYLE-CARMATS__W0QQ_armrsZ1.
They seem good quality but maybe a bit oversized in places i.e. the rear mats under the front seats.

How do the Jazz ones lock in place?

The drivers mat came with fixing holes and two screw type plugs which i assume screw into the fixed carpet.  I have had these for a few days now and do not appear to move without the fixings in place.

The Honda mats on my first Jazz were fitted without the clip and I never had any problems. The dealer said they only fitted the clip at customer request as most didn't want them (can't remember why).

I purchased a set of Cannon mats before I read this thread, they seem to be good quality and the front mats fit very well, although they are a bit overpriced.  Yes the spikes on the bottom do knock of very easily, so I rubbed off as many as I could without to much force, I then used self adhesive 2" wide Velcro (hooks side) tape on the bottom of the mats, a  method I have used before.  They now stick to the carpet around the rubber reinforcement on the drivers side like like s**t to a blanket.  A word of warning, If you try to pull the mats up again the tend to take the whole carpet with them.  This technique will work with any rubber mat that has a smooth surface for the Velcro to adhere to.

Just to update my previous point, my drivers mat does appear to move so i am now toying with putting in the fixings or using Velcro.
