wing mirrors.
« on: August 07, 2018, 06:28:40 PM »
Today I picked up my 2005 Jazz se. It was fairly cheap, £600, so I did expect a few problems. The front brake sticks, one of the windscreen washer  motors does not work, there is more corrosion than I expected on the front struts and steering  gear- usual second hand car stuff. But I do have a weird one. When I switch on the engine, the wing mirrors fold back. Not when I switch off, but when I switch on. There is a pause, a clunk, and then they fold in and I have to put them out by hand before I drive off. When I stop , nothing happens. Obviously something is working the wrong way round, has anyone got any ideas ?

Page 139 of my owners manual describes their operation. There is a switch in the top left corner of the mirror adjusting switch assembly. The manual gives the impression they are not automatic but manually retracted if required. They are not fitted to every model. My 2006 S does not have the option.
