The car today had the mirror stuck in the folded position and the parking sensors has iced in and caused the system to beep like mad. Took me a while to figure this one out.

Any tricks to stop the above problems?

Well you can always turn the parking sensors off, and don't fold the wing mirrors in.

Keep your car in the garage. Works for me

Although my door mirrors are a bit dodgy anyway. They sometimes don't unfold on the first attempt even in Summer and occasionally fold back all by themselves. My dealer said to wait until they fail completely then they'll fix them. Great, wait until I can't park the car in the garage or drive without door mirrors.
