Air Cleaner Element / Air Filter
« on: December 04, 2017, 02:08:07 PM »
Hiya all

I am looking for an aftermarket air cleaner element that will suit my little Jazz but I'm gobsmacked because it is not of the conventional 4 sided element. I tried asking around online suppliers and even K&N but none of them have any. I finally found a genuine Honda part from Cox Motor Parts and was quoted around £27 from them. Anyone with any experience where I can find a cheaper aftermarket model?

Please see attached photo - it has the markings PP-TD30K and ACE75 on it.
Thanks in advance x

If the photograph is of your air filter I would say it doesn't need changed.

Hi Jocko

Thanks, I actually used an air blower to clean it up a bit more just to be sure ;D
Just wanted to prepare for the future, probably by next service.  ;)

Have found Opie oils to be a good source of most service parts at decent prices (and also oil - hence their name LOL).

But that air filter of yours is a weird shape...

Dont recognise the a/c from a Mk2 Jazz, is your car an import?

It appears to be a Civic unit. Perhaps some enthusiast has fitted it as an upgrade, sometime in the past! It is a K&N part, as far as I can see. Perhaps one of the Civic owners will suggest a spares supplier.

The Honda part number is 17220-RC7-E01 and it looks like there's no aftermarket part for this part. I came across the same question for this part on a German forum and they also didn't find any.

I don’t believe so, believe it was made in the UK. I read on the Wikipedia that “Production of the Jazz for European markets moved from Japan to Honda's UK plant in Swindon on 7 October 2009.”

Thanks you. Any way to find out why some Mk2 models have this weird shaped filter? Mine is a 1.2 litre Stop Start model, Type GG5, Variant 4, Version 2. Not sure if this info is of any help! Perhaps it has to do with the stop start?

Check your VIN against this list

Thank you! I also checked https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=6544.msg28070#msg28070. Eddie Honda confirmed my VIN starting SHH was from the Swindon factory.  ;)

As I said earlier, it looks like the air cleaner (complete) has been swapped with one from a Civic. If that is the case you will have to buy the Civic filter element.

I would recommend OPIE oils for parts as well as oil for your Jazz  , you can wait nearer the time of your next service & buy a new filter. As regards a performance filter I have had one and notice very little difference apart from cleaning every 50k miles.
I would also take alook at Redex treatment if you Jazz has been running on unleaded try a plastic bottle of Redex in your tank, I buy from either Wilko's or Halfords they often have offers. I use Redex in customers petrol cars & Millers deisel additive in old & new deisel vehicles. One treatment every couple of years even better just before the  MOT.
