starter solenoid
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:39:08 PM »
Hi, has anyone had any problems with the starter solenoid ? I have only had my 2005 Jazz a couple of weeks but I have had no previous problems. I went shopping today and when I got back in the car it would not start.  Plenty of battery power and lights but nothing doing. I rang my brother, on holiday from Australia who came out to help. He is a mechanic and said it was the starter solenoid, and it bump started easily to get me home. But I have taken quite a bit of the car apart and it is still difficult to even see part of the solenoid, the connections are impossible to reach and I can only see one bolt holding the starter on. Does anyone have any tips about removal, testing, possible fuse or relay problems or locations ? Anything at all might be useful.  At the moment I am considering dynamite as a possible way forward.

According to the Haynes Manual you access the starter motor from below the front of the car. You have to remove the under tray. Hope this helps.
In case you need to replace it!
