I bought a Honda Jazz S (2005) and the key I originally got with the car had no remote button (car has gone through a few hands...). It just unlocked all the doors on the driver's side. However I did buy a second hand ignition lock and door barrel with matching keys and it has a remote button on it. How can I tell if my car has a remote receiver and will I need to programme my receiver at the dealership to make the remote buttons on the key to to work? If I don't have a remote receiver, can I have a generic receiver installed to have a remote fob (and not necessarily with a key on the fob. Does that make sense?) I'm looking at options as I don't know how long the door key entry will last - maybe a few years down the road... Thanks in advance!
