Petrol Prices
« on: June 03, 2009, 09:19:21 PM »
Summer is here and the Petrol prices are on the rise again.  >:( What i don't understand is last year when they rose, it was about 13p a litre different between petrol and diesel.  Recently petrol has increased near me going up 5p in the last few weeks to 97.9p but diesel has not changed at 103.9p ???

Diesel prices should be higher than petrol because --

1. Out of every barrel of crude you get twice as much petrol than diesel
( 9 galls diesel to about 19 galls petrol from 42 gallon crude 'barrel').

2. Diesel has 15 to 20% more energy in it than petrol so it should be at least 15% more expensive.

3. Diesel is heavier than petrol and costs more to transport.

Add all the above together and petrol users are actually subsidising diesel users.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Joejazz, where in Leeds do you live !!

I live in LS19 & diesel is 101.9 (for the Civic) & 99.9 for unleaded for the Jazz. Try signing up to petrolprices.com. They give you twice weekly updates of cheapest fuel nearest your address, (as above emailed to me on Friday).
