Catalytic Converter Theft
« on: January 30, 2024, 03:27:10 AM »
Hi, My first post here. After having found a perfect car, 2013, with fully stamped services from supplying dealer and 27K on the clock, I am now nervous about Cat theft.

The dealer assured me that since 2008 the cat is in the engine, but looking under the car, I'm sure I spotted it at the front of the exhaust pipe.

Can someone please tell me if theft is still a risk on the 2013 model, and if you have found suitable protection.

Thank you,

Gerald

Cat is high up between bulkhead and engine. Top part nearly inaccessible.
And the cats have far less platinum than Mark1.
SO not worth stealing,

I'd be more concerned about the low mileage, if CVT then ose check service in CVT every 2 years, you've more protection buying from a dealer. As others stated little likelihood of cat thefts from MK2 Jazz ther are easier picking in scrap trade.

I've not heard of a mk2 cat being stolen. Sadly, it's MK1 that gets targeted as it is easy to get at.

Thank you all for your replies. Sadly i've sought information from many sources and confessed myself, in the end I decided I would take the risk and bought a 2018 1.5 Jazz Sport. 27K but covered over 5 1/2 years - similar ownership and full same main dealer service, just a bit more money :-(

It's in the wonderful mid blue cooler instead of metallic brown too

My first Honda, and I'm looking forward to it

Good choice, now check the pollen filter behind the passenger glove box. If mucky dirty as the dealer to change foc or replace yourself with is spec part. A 3 minute task with huge benefits.
Enjoy your new Jazz.

That's a really nice car for your first motor. Enjoy! Lucky person.  :D

As ever with a Honda, just service per schedule, treat with care and it will last you for many years.
