Camera installation
« on: January 07, 2016, 04:14:00 PM »
Hi,
I want to install a reverse camera on my jazz and I wanted to ask if someone can give me a little bit help on how should I do it.
Do I need to pull out all the black plastic on the back door to wire the cables to the reverse lamp?

Hope you can help....

Not the rear door, but inside the boot. You should be able to access the light quite easily.

When I installed my rear parking 'bleepers' I removed the cover from the offside rear light cluster. I should buy some trim removal tools. (dirt cheap off E bay) as the plastic marks very easily. The cover came off with no problem. I soldered the wire from the 'bleepers brain to the reversing light cable and all went well. I was advised to make the join as close as possible to the actual light. Tech boys will probably know why.
Alternatively I would presume a 'scotch blok? would do the job.

Scotchlok™ - http://solutions.3m.co.uk/wps/portal/3M/en_GB/ElectricalMkts/ElectricalSupplies/products/scotchlok-wire-connectors/ is a 3M trademark.

The generic term is more of a mouthful "Insulation Displacement Connector" or IDC for short.
