fuel filler cap........
« on: December 23, 2015, 09:41:41 PM »
hi i bought my 2009 se at the weekend and went to fill her up when i noticed that the filler cap cord had snapped.

without buying a new one, whats the best way to secure the cap back to the car.

i thought about a long thin cable tie.

can the cord be repaired?

(repairs/modifications with photos would be greatly appreciated)

The cord on my fuel cap is about to come off as well so will be interested to see what your (or other members) solution to this would be without buying a new cord and cap unit

Super glue after cleaning both broken parts. Been fine for 2 years.

And if that's not strong enough (super glue quality seems to vary) then my fix would be to find some thin wire (eg straightened small paper clip) and wind half around each end of the broken cord, crip with pliers then smother it all with some 2 part epoxy.

Scrapyard...

3D printing...

equivalent from another manufacturer that has the decency to supply them on their own.
