Honda Fit = Honda Jazz ?? Seat question
« on: November 06, 2015, 10:03:20 AM »
I know there are variations between the UK spec and US spec (The US steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car for starters  ;D ) but how close are they?

Put simply, are the seats in my 09 Jazz the same as an 09 Fit? I have asked Honda (with no useful response) Photos of the seats look very similar to my eye.

The question being, will seat covers made for the Fit fit the Jazz? My thought is yes, but ...

I'm not surprised that Honda UK can't tell you about the specifics of a component of a car they don't make.
The US market cars aren't/weren't made at the Swindon plant, where European and some other market cars (Africa) are.
However, it's highly unlikely that the basic design of the seat units are going to be significantly different other than the LHD/RHD bit, ie the height adjustment being on the 'wrong' seat.
So, I'm with you in thinking that the seat covers will fit.

Why do you say that? The 60/40 split is the same, as are the head rests.

I know that are not made in the same plant, but I would have thought that they would have known if the design was the same, or at least known who to ask about it.

Some more pics I have found of an 09 Fit with Clazzio covers which seem to confirm that they are the same. The difference in the head rests in pic 2 can be accounted for by the thickness of the covers (see pic 3 without the headrest covers fitted)

I think I might be biting the bullet and getting a set

I think because the 60/40 split is opposite on the photos.

t'is a h'optical h'illusion. The pic of my Jazz 'distorts' the shape of the seat. They do split in the same place

Aha, trying to catch us out!  ;) Then in this case I don't see any differences, let us know how the fitting goes.

Like to keep you on your toes  :P

I'm in communication (sort of, my Japanese is non existent) and seeing if they will ship direct (assuming that the carriage isn't too expensive)

When/if I get a set I will post my findings, and lots or leather porn  :o 8)

How are you getting on with ordering them?

If I can explain my comment about not getting a conformation regarding the seats, which is based on first hand experience as I worked for the UK arm of a Japanese company in various technical roles for 16 years and know from experience how difficult it can be to get that type of information from your own division/operation unless you know someone in the right department who might help you out. Even the part numbers could be different depending on trim type and arm rest etc. so that would not be difinitive, and the Japanese tend not to give you an answer unless they are 100% sure, it's just the way they are.

I still haven't ordered as I had an email from Clazzio saying that they thought the head rests were different Jazz/Fit wise. Personally I think they were not comparing the same model year but its not easy trying to converse with a Japanese company when your Japanese is as good as your Vogon.

Clazzio are planning to come to the UK soon, so hopefully they can check the "fit"  ;) on a real Jazz.

I can get a set from the US @ £380 delivered + whatever HMRC take on landing (~£60)  but its still a gamble at this point. (one company didn't want my business. They quoted $400 shipping  :o )
