water pooling under car
« on: April 17, 2015, 07:48:19 PM »
Hi all,

We've had our Jazz six months and it's been just what we wanted. Recently though we've started to notice a small pool of liquid on the drive, we think water as it dry's without a stain unlike oil.  It seems to be coming from around the middle of the car is only there till it dry's then we don't see it till the car's been run again.

Anyone any ideas?  The cars under warranty although it's four years old.

Appreciate any advice :)

If you are using the aircon then that is most likely the cause but it is not a problem.
The water vapour in the air condenses on the cold evaporator and drains out under the car and is another indication that your aircon is working.

ok thankyou didn't think of that one we have used the aircon but not much, I've checked the coolant level and that's ok I'll keep an eye on it for now seemed to be a strange place to be dripping from in the middle of the underside of the car, fingers crossed it that.

Many thanks! :)

The drain from the evaporator runs out underneath the middle of the car. You wouldn't want the hire car (Fiat) we had in Spain once where the carpets filled with water because the drain didn't work (kinked or blocked).

Check your manual.
Since the EX has auto climate control it is very possible that you use your airconditioning more often than you think...

On a very hot day in summer, you can see water dripping out quite often from under (mainly) American and Australian cars which have more powerful aircon systems
