Hole where USB charger should be and a weird cable
« on: June 12, 2020, 07:57:02 PM »
Hi,

Please can anyone point me in the right direction.
I just got a 10 reg Honda Jazz 1.4 automatic but it is missing a USB connection. I can see where it should be and I have attached a picture of what is there now.
Can anyone advise which adapter I need to get a USB connection?

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Looks like the actual socket is missing too. Scrapyard donor or ebay?

Alternatively, dealer should be able to order one.

That photo is of the cigarette lighter supply. The short hidden cable you need to find or get is the cable from the back of the radios' USB output.
Ill try to add a photo.

The USB socket is tucked away above this, isn't it? I wonder if the OP has overlooked it, and assumed the missing cig lighter is it?

@Mcromack, I would suggest leaving it alone, not worth the investment.
I bought the cable that plugs into that socket, allowing you to use a USB connection to anything like iPhone charging cable.
It worked for a while, and was great because the digital quality of music was miles better than an audio-headphone cable connection to AUX.
However, since iOS 11, I've been having problems with reliable connections and totally died since iOS 13.  It won't play any music etc now.
I've gone back to having a Bluetooth receiver attached to the AUX socket.

Mine still works on iOS 14. Also the benefit that the steering controls work the volume and the track selection while also charging your phone especially when you are using it as a navigator and playing music. Buying a new cable should cure your issue. I have had to buy a few over the years. The cables are cheaper on ebay but i would suggest buying 2 at a time. Keep the spare in the car. The fine wires work harden with bouncing in a car and fail.
Maybe get a car dismantler to remove the socket and connector to the radio.
