K&n cone, hesitation in 2nd gear nw
« on: August 01, 2018, 12:21:18 PM »
Hi all, i fitted long arm K&n cone n induction pipe from my civic mk8 1.8,  but getting  hesitation in 2nd m 3rd gear nw.
Tried refiiting the oem and it runs fine.

K&n seems to hesitate/lag then go,  i think may be large a filter or to far away, as it's down by the bottom of the bumper, um using a aqua shield cover.

Any ideas,

Its a 09 1.2 ivtec manual, just had new plugs, oil n filters
Thxs

Would appear to me that the induction tract is not tuned for the engine. Could be setting up a standing wave or some such. The fact that the OEM arrangement works fine kind of confirms that.
For tuning and modifications then this forum is a better bet.

The length of induction tract is critical for correct running of engine,  in fact some cars have 'dual length' induction that switches over at certain revs with a electric solenoid.  Same with exhaust length and baffles etc, tuned to the engine.

Fitted a short 4.7" pipe, rather than 30"  ands its now fine.
