honda motor oil
« on: February 25, 2008, 07:02:02 PM »
Hi

In the car manual Honda go on about using only ‘Honda motor oil’ in your car.

Now when I spoke to a few honda dealers about this they dont seem to know about ‘any honda motor oil’

So does it exist or just a myth???

Just a myth.

Indeed, the Civic has stickers on the windscreen and inside the driver’s door saying that Honda recommends Castol motor oil.

The oil at your dealer is probably made by the usual suspects and used by your Ford, Toyota, etc., dealers.

Halfords….Castrol…it don’t matter, just make sure you get the correct oil grade. Remember you can supply your own motor oil at service time.

If its just a myth then why do they ‘Honda’ keep mentioning it in their manual?

Why not just say use whatevers available so long as its the right spec/grade etc

I have owned several different makes of cars and have always been able to get the makers brand of oil no problem

Cant believe you cant for a honda!

My Jazz came with a leaflet bundled with the owners manual and dealer list…says Honda recommend Castrol oils.
