That is a very typical rust area in all cars. It just depends on the surface treatment and other corrosion prevention means, how soon it will rust. So keep it clean and take care that the drain holes are open.

Here's a photo of Crosstar with 15 inch aftermarket wheels, which are 1" smaller than the stock 16". They may look smaller, but the tyres are 195/65R15 size, slightly beefier than stock.

It's inevitable things will go wrong with complex products like modern cars; what matters is how the dealers and manufacturers handle the issue.

If Honda get their act together by informing car owners what the scope & extent of this problem is (year of manufacture, models and VIN of cars affected) and what they intend doing about it, they could preserve their reputation for product quality & reliability.

It can take years to build a reputation, and moments to destroy it.

Many components are provided by sub contractors who work to a design and specification . It’s the case that the brake simulation part will be too. While Honda provide the operating parameters it could be the subcontractors design -as they are likely to be a niche expert - just as light units are as another example . Alloy wheels are only made by a couple of manufacturers. Each sub contractor carries outbtheir QC QA checks audited by Honda . A batch of rubber o rings it’s a likely cause of the failure of the brake simulator IMHO rather than a rushed into production half thought out design. Millions of cars used airbags which had a defective actuation mechanism across most manufacturers but the car builders had to sort the replacements ..

Thanks Spodric - an excellent You Tube find. It actually made me laugh at the irony, which was needed since I have now been told by the Dealer that the likely date of the part arriving is not now the 15th April but 23rd. Doesn't sound as if its coming by Air. Also I still have not heard back from the Honda escalation team despite phoning their first line customer service 3 times and sending an email and a letter. The phone calls stated I would have a reply within 3 working days. Perhaps they are having to carefully think out how they can deal with this major problem. I hope they can.

Yes, just listened to it. Pity they don’t install reliable parts. Brake servos that fail just beyond the warranty period and a charging a huge some for replacements will not enhance Honda’s reputation for reliability.

The Jazz problems look to me like a rush to production without adequate testing or Quality Control.

My Jazz had the passenger mirror motor replaced under warranty, when it was almost 3 years old,

Seems to be a common fault.

Another wasted day I won't get back. The Mk4 has had more problems than the ultra-reliable Mk2 it replaced. The latest being the brake simulator failure.

Which is why I will not be replacing my Mark 2 Jazz with a Honda.  (likely to be a Yaris)
