Hi folks,

I was a lurker prior to buying a Jazz and now need a bit of expertise if you please.

I require a new rear bearing/hub, saw a fella on ebay and verified using my reg number it was the correct one.

Car was in the garage yesterday for new discs/pads/hub and the garage say they can't get the hub to fit, claiming it's the wrong one. Contact ebay seller (reputable with > 140k 100% positive) who after looking into it says this is the only hub he can see for my registration plate.

I'm unsure now what to do.

Please help!

Hi,

SH04YVX

I've seen some folk advertising parts where the 2004 model is the start model, as I think there was some mechanical alterations in that year?

The guy sold me this hub with discs, so you'd think he'd realise to sell me the hub for disc models - link -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300872673613?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Thanks for you help so far.

Hi,

This is what I`ve, link, no ABS but brake drums at the back not brake disks.

Have you got ABS fitted in your car?

It has ABS and discs, which I told the vendor.

I've just been out to a motor factor with the part and he compared my part to two different ones he had - one for models with ABS, one without. He reckoned the vendor has sold me the one without ABS. But, even that's difficult to tell visually.

on a lot of cars the ABS sensor reluctor pickup ring is visible as a toothed ring on the hub,  on the Jazz (and other Hondas) it is part of the outer bearing face nearest the suspension arm, from memory the ABS bearing has a rubber seal and the non-ABS has a metal disc seal.  The non-ABS hub will fit but ABS light will come on, and may damage sensor.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I'm going to just send it back and have my garage order the part and they can deal with the stress of getting the right part to fit.

Kinda thought I'd won a watch with only paying £35 for a hub when Honda are after £170.

Absolutely, and if I'd been sent the correct part it wouldn't be a issue.

I'm a great believer in OEM.

Update

Got a compatible hub from Eurocarparts - £67 - more than £100 cheaper than Honda.
