This morning I look at my speedo I was surprise to see my car has gone past 100,000 miles! I know 100,000 miles is nothing for Jazz but the CVT that I have on my, I do maintenance it very well every 25,000 miles also the gearbox filter too.
I have not see any previous other forum mentioned of how long it to last at 150,000 miles or 200,000? I was curious how long can the steel belt to last if well maintenance. Do they normally snap belt? or slip? or jerking?

has anybody still have the original CVT gearbox on Jazz at the very highly mileage?

Why I asked that question? Well because my sister Nissan Micra 2002 CVT steel belt start to slip round 2,500 rpm or more it was on 117,000 miles. The CVT have gone to rebuilded for £1456! found out the steel belt on the both side is wear thinness.

I was afraid it could have happen to my car sooner.

One of the forumites did 256,000 miles with his driving school car before the CVT gearbox failed. And it wasn't the belts that went!

It was my 2011 Jazz that went to 256,000 miles when it had a driveshaft and gearbox problem, dumping the CVT fluid, and it still got me to the main dealers with no fluid in the gearbox. The engine itself was still fine.

No the timing chain was never changed. The only major non-service problem was the air conditioning compressor which I went for a non-Honda part, that still cost me £650, but less than the £1300 Honda wanted. There was a small matter of a heater switch not working that was resolved with a part bought on Ebay, thanks to the brains of ClubJazz identifying the remedy.

No not yet, because I have never own timing chain before that is why I asked you, I am surprise it last that long! so I don't have to worry about change it as long I maintenance the oil regular keep the chain in good lifetime.

That's right, if the engine is maintained properly, the Jazz timing chain should last the life of the engine - it is over-engineered and very robust indeed.

If you want to see something scary, have a look at the timing chain for the Fiat/Opel 1.3 diesel engine... it looks like a bit of bicycle chain! It's no wonder they now have to change them every 4 years after a spate of premature failures.
