Gear Lever Gaiter
« on: August 02, 2015, 11:05:45 AM »

The gear lever gaiter on my 1.4ES is getting a bit scruffy.
I'm considering replacing the gaiter.

Anyone able to advise me how to do the job?
Don't want to go straight in there and damage any bits.

Haven't been in touch with main dealer yet to find out the cost of replacement parts.

Many Thanks.

it looks like there are some screws, i hope you dont have to take the console up instead of clipping it out at the silver surround

Many thanks for the link.  Much appreciated. :)

Unfortunately the console had to come out, but turned out to be fairly easy.

Unscrewed the gear lever.
Two plastic screws at the front of the console.  They were rather loose and came out with their clip attached.
One screw at the rear inside the small storage container.
Also had to take off the plastic piece just in front of the handbrake.  That made it easier to get the console out over the handbrake and gear lever. I managed to get the fingers underneath and push the bracket out without breaking any plastic bits.
Removing screws at the rear/base of the gaiter will enable removal.
Few pictures attached for interest.
