Honda Fit Recall for Faulty Lost Motion Springs
« on: February 20, 2011, 11:01:46 AM »
Honda has issued a recall in the US for the Jazz (badged as 'Fit' in the US) to replace the lost motion springs. 97,201 Fit models made for the 2009 and 2010 model years are being recalled after it was found the lost motion springs can bend or break over time, resulting in abnormal engine noise and the risk of engine damage or stalling.

The lost motion springs are an essential part of the engine valvetrain and are compressed by the rocker arms in normal use. Honda stated there has been no reported incidents but are taking the precautionary measure of notifying owners from March 2011.

It is not known if this will include UK Jazz models. The Fit sold in the US comes with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine and not the 1.2 or 1.4-litre i-VTEC engines offered in Europe.
