New Jazz, some questions
« on: October 07, 2017, 06:28:18 AM »
I just bought a MkI Jazz 1.2 (2005, 115.000 km), and I have some questions for you... :)

1) Where can I find the label with paint code?
Mine could be cerulean blue, but I'm not sure. I found the VIN and engine data label, but no paint label.

2) How difficult is changing the spark plugs? Judging from the user manual, it looks demanding.

3) In the trunk I found two metal parts, and I can't fathom what they are for.
Below there's a picture.

4) In the trunk I found two loose tools, a wheel wrench and a bag with two towing hooks.
Is there a system to keep them in place somewhere? (I mean, not going around in the spare tire compartment)

Lastly, any hint for a new user of an old Jazz? ;D

1. Mine is on the engine data plate at the front of the engine bay. B520P in my case. I'll check for sure this morning and get back to you.

2. Plugs on the GD not too difficult even though there are eight of them. There is a bit of a cover to come off the front, and the rears are a bit of a fiddle, but nothing like the later models.

3. Don't recognise those parts.

4. Think mine are in a bag on top of the spare wheel. Not too sure. I've seen them, so I know they are there. I'll check that too.

Handbrake not all that great. Hold the car on a firm foot brake while you apply the handbrake.
3mm Aux socket (beside 12v power/lighter socket), allows you to plug an mp3 player in to the radio/cd player.

1: Paint code is also on VIN plate at front (e.g. Cerulean Blue BG53M, Vivid Blue Pearl B520P - M for metallic, P for pearlescent)

2: The right size plug & socket extension is needed; 1/2" may be too wide so 3/8" is better, 150mm is a bit short so 150+75mm is needed.

3: It's the bracket from a roof rack

4: Place tool bag behind jack storage location and hand tighten to keep in place.

1. Here is a picture.

4. My spare wheel sits with the back upwards and the bag with the tools is clamped in there.

Oh, that's it! I would have never guessed :)

I'm thinking about replacing them myself.
I paid 1600E for the whole car, I don't want to spend lots for maintenance, if I can do it on my own (with previous car I always did, this looks harder though).
Perhaps I would better get a torque wrench.

Not a problem, I seldom use it.

I think the Aux socket is on 2006 models onwards. Mine is 2005.
I'm planning to get an FM transmitter for playing MP3, like this one.
