Satnav query
« on: August 02, 2017, 07:12:26 PM »
We are using the jazz on holiday at the moment so using the satnav. I have noticed that when setting a destination the arrival time is one hour ahead of what it should be.  Then it corrects itself. Anyone else had this. Is there a satnav time that is different from the car time?

Is the car time set for GMT? Remember we are currently DST (GMT+1) and the sat nav probably corrects itself, taking the satellite time (DST).

No we are on BST.
I do wish people would stop changing things.

Daylight Saving Time - British Summer Time - same difference.

The rest of the world calls it DST, most people in the UK realise what it is. It is not worth Honda modifying the system to say BST for the relatively small UK market.

As mentioned in the Honda Connect FAQ, the time of the unit remains on the set time when you cross a time boundary, but the Navigation time does update.

There are two time settings 1. Unit time 2. Garmin Navigation time

Thanks,  I will delve into the menus and make sure both are set to BST.

Technically there is no such timezone as BST. The UK is always in the GMT timezone but during the summer DST is active which means we set our clocks to GMT+1. Although those of us with modern, 21st century, time pieces can rely on them to switch automatically.

Sadly despite all the opportunities available to it the Honda Infotainment unit appears stuck in the 20th century.

To be pedantic.

Yes, the time zone is Greenwich Mean Time but Summer Time in Great Britain is legislated for in:

Summer Time Act 1972

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1972/6

The Summer Time Order 2002

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/262/body/made

and is known as British Summer Time (BST) to differentiate it from other summer times in other countries.

Daylight saving time is generally a term for the concept of daylight saving time which could be GMT+1 or (was in Britain) GMT+2 or GMT+3 or whatever.
