Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / Re: Where to put beam benders on the headlamps?

Aachen ,being so close to Netherlands and Belgium probably catches a fair few stickerless foreigners.
I'm certain they would have caught me too if it wasn't for your heads up! Very probably saved me a good few Euros there. Cheers LordV.

Little Jazz is off on another Euro trip in 3 weeks time for a 10 day break, not that we've decided where to go yet. I've left the beam benders in place, too tight to buy some more  :D :D

If anyone does go close to Aachen, I really would recommend stopping by the Dom. Have a google of the place, absolutely stunning is an understatement to be honest, and a big bonus is that it's free to enter.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Mk4 2021 Jazz Brake failure

At my age, and with my annual mileage vanishingly tiny (I'll struggle to do more than 1500 miles this year) I have decided that this would be my last car in any event. I will keep it and deal with the brake issue when and if it occurs (I bought my car in October 2021 so it seems to be on the borderline).

Having said that, in the light of what I have read on this thread, I would go Toyota for my next car if I was changing - the main dealer is literally 500 yards from where I live and the 10 year warranty (if you service the car with them) is a game changer.

My daughter uses Apple Car Play on her Toyota CHR. Just for info she always uses the cable connection as she finds the wireless option unreliable.

Off Topic (Non-Honda) / sunglasses for driving
« Last post by pebbles on May 01, 2024, 12:37:18 PM »
does anyone use glasses with photochromatic lenses for driving in the Jazz , do they work ok ?

I was thinking of getting a pair but the opticians have advised they don't work too well behind some car windows due to the glass absorbing  UV.

I have a pair of polarising glasses but they don't work well, turning the car and mobile phone lcd screens very dark !

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: 12V Battery after long stand still
« Last post by Jazzik on May 01, 2024, 12:00:37 PM »
Opened the garage this morning for the first time in months. The Jazz has been parked there since February 20.
Due to (medical) circumstances, the car was not used for 71 days (10 weeks, 2½ months).

When I park the car I always turn off the audio, use "dead" (double) lock" and switch off the key fob.

The HV battery should be safe because it has not been used for less than the 3 months Honda warns for. But how did that little 12 volt battery hold up?
With fingers (also toes and eyes) crossed I pressed the unlock button on the key.
Flashing, mirrors unfolding and everything seems ok.
Foot on the brake, finger on power button... and I see 9 (nine!!?) bars on the left.... HV battery almost full? After such a long time? Indeed!
I have no idea what the voltage of the 12 volt battery was, but it was certainly enough to start the car.

After a drive of about 45 minutes, the Jazz was parked again with peace of mind.

I often connect iPhone 7 to Jazz via USB cable and use Carplay. It works with the USB port that has the USB symbol below it. The other USB port with the battery symbol below it only charges the phone, and you can use that when you don't want to use Carplay, but still want to charge your phone.

I have a little self satisfied snigger to myself every time I drive into an Umwelt zone   ;D

A few years ago umwelt zones were all the rage for towns wishing to demonstrate their green credentials.   But as virtually all cars built  in the last 25 years qualify anyway, with a sticker from new, , some towns no longer collect enough fines to pay for administration and have ended their scheme.    Aachen ,being so close to Netherlands and Belgium probably catches a fair few stickerless foreigners.

I think for Iphones you can connect wirelessly (I haven't got one). In terms of the USB ports the ones with a lightning symbol are only for charging, I think the one for connecting phones is the one on the left on the front dash.

In basic petrol engines the best fuel consumption is typically achieved if you keep the revs between roughly 1750 and 2250rpm and don't use big throttle openings.
Fuel economy and fuel efficiency aren't quite the same thing, don't confuse the two. Efficiency means getting the most energy out of the fuel you burn, but you might be demanding more energy than you necessarily need to so end up using more fuel overall.
Modern engines are a little more complicated with variable systems,  but broadly the same guide applies.
Look up "BSFC map" on Google and you'll see what is often called an "onion map" ( like rings in a cut onion), which shows how much fuel is used to release a given amount of energy to the output at different engine speeds and loads. Try to use the engine near the "eye" of the onion, not too fast and not too much throttle.
Vehicle speed and acceleration are the principal factors. Try to keep moderate speed and don't accelerate rapidly.
