Hey guys

Does anyone know if the Exterior Tailgate Trim/Handle Cover is painted gloss black, or if it is just Gloss plastic?

I recently bought one to replace the Chrome version on my current Jazz, and it has a few scratches.

I wanted to know if it's painted or just gloss plastic before I start lightly sanding and polishing the scratches away.

Part number is 74890-tf0-0030

It's this version just for reference:

Hopefully someone knows :)

Thanks

Jocko

Try rubbing up the rear, unseen side, and that should show if you will damage or repair the surface. Personally I would doubt it was a painted part, but I may be wrong.

The rear is a matt black finish, it's only the front that is gloss black. So it might very well be the front is painted, or possibly just got a couple of coats of Lacquer on perhaps, But I don't know for sure.
