CAN bus errors expected with rewiring a hitch connector ?
« on: November 20, 2021, 11:38:30 AM »
Issue !

My 2006 got a hitch , and i intend to use it .
However, the smart sensor ( aftermarket bosal ) seems to have broken down )
replacements are non existent so its seems.

I want to wire the plug in the old ways ( split them off at the rear lights ? )

I can expect to run into troubles ?
( so far a jumper-cable-test seems to give no issue's )

But as its going to be a hell of a job fiddling around in the small space, might as well ask before i start.

in short, will my Jazz become angry when i direct-connect my hitch-light-plug into the system
like we did in the ye-old-days pre-can/bus computer stuff  ?

MK1 Jazz does not have CANbus, neither does MK2 - just conventional, fuss free wiring....... CAN seems to be a German thing...they love their complications, and customers having to buy a complete lamp module rather than just a bulb...   You may have problem with direction indicator flashing speed if you do not fit a relay for indicators or an electronic flasher relay ( which the flash speed is independent of load ) as the relay in vehicle works on the load of 2 x 21Watt bulbs ( about 3.5 amps ) to give correct flash speed ( between 60 and 120 flashes per minute to be legal ).

So the answer is yes, you can wire plug in the old way...

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I am now relieved ..

And can confirm , as it works :)

I accidental lost my patience and figured "what could go wrong"

Few hours later, that Bosal pos box is out and it is now hardwired in.

Indicators works good on my  ( led ) test kit,  will hook up the cart later on, running into daylight issue's here.

thanks !

So .. for google :

Yes, you can hardwire a hitch connector into your rear lights of a Honda Jazz 2006

And , no .. don't get the bloody bosal smart sensor whatever tow-hook-kit   ;p
