Auto folding wingmirror module
« on: May 30, 2016, 01:36:40 PM »
Hi all.

Still enjoying my jazz , have seen on Youtube somewhere an English man who has successfully wired an auto wingmirror folding into his fuse box.

Keyfob....press to lock car , mirrors fold in.

Keyfob....press to unlock,  mirrors fold out.

Seems a simple installation.

But....i can't find it for sale anywhere  :(

Anyone here done it ?

Plenty here from China, I had thought of doing it myself but could not find any info from anyone that has done it.

Thanks for that , on the link in the comments on the video it shows a wiring diagram

I'm tempted to buy one and try it myself , the chap on the video just uses the outgoing side of the fuses in his fuse box.

Seems a bit bodgy but keeps it simple  ;)

Should be a simple kit, would need a feed from permanent 12v supply to power the mirror fold motors rather than the IG2 switched feed, and a short timed output triggered from the remote receiver.

The mirror wiring diagram seems straightforward enough, the trouble is getting to the wiring without removing too much of the dash and drivers footwell panels, the remote lock wiring goes to the under dash fusebox / MICU, but is usually pretty tight and clipped in. The first instruction for gaining access to the mirror switch is "1) Remove the instrument panel" although the wires may be more accessible nearer the door.

I'd suggest a slight change to the sequence of operations:

Keyfob....press to lock car , mirrors fold in.

Turn ignition to position 1 or 2,  mirrors fold out.

The Mk 2 Jazz will do this for you anyway if you follow the right sequence.
Before you switch engine off press mirror fold button and mirrors fold in.
Switch  engine off- key in position 1 and press mirror fold switch again , then remove key.
When you next start the engine the mirrors will unfold as soon as you start the engine.

Very clever these Hondas !

If I did that. I'd mangle my mirrors, reversing out of the garage! :o

No auto fold, for me......

already covered on here and think the video is the same one.
I did mine but don't have them unfolding automatic with the locks, they unfold with the ignition switch

Just been experimenting and found your tip works even if you remove the key and then press the button. ;D

I haven't got my Jazz any more, but from memory it will all be normal if you don't do the last press of the mirror button. Just try it and see.
I used to use it as a way of impressing other car owners as my mirrors automatically unfolded on starting the car , well you have to have some  pleasures !

Sorry Rambler, I don't understand the question.
If you follow the procedure, next time you start up the mirrors will unfold.
If you don't follow the procedure , next time you start up the mirrors will not unfold until you press the button.
I haven't got a Jazz to play with, and my Civic hasn't got power folding mirrors,  so can't really help any more.
If you want to cancel the mirror unfold on start up ,then I don't know as I never tried.
Sorry I can't be any more helpful.

Hahaha ;)
But it works perfect this way! A few weeks ago i saw someone at the grocery parking, walking to his car and pressing the key to unlock the car and then: BANG ... the automatically unfolded mirrors banged against the car next to his. With the button I AM in charge. :)

Then you press the mirror fold button before you switch the engine on. When you start the engine the mirrors will be folded.
