Gearbox Problem what are the symptoms to look for ?

Hi All, I am thinking of buy a 2002 - 2005 Honda Jazz 1.4 sport manual / Am aware of the Gearbox bearing issue / what are the exact symptoms of this. Is it a major issue / on a 40K car - when can you expect it to happen, anyone know of the cost from a specialist to repair, is it any particula year of manufacture, will it eventually fail when a car exceeds 100K miles plus  . Appreciate any feedback / looking to buy a low mileage, one owner minter . Coolmint
