As Eddie says, no power to the aux-in socket, it's just a headphone type jack after all.  the plug has ground / left audio /right audio, and the socket has a single pole switch that closes to enable the aux input when a plug is inserted (5 wires, but 6 at the head unit with an extra ground)  The auxiliary  socket wiring is a good tap for switched 12V fused at 10A if you wanted to hardwire a 5V buck converter for a USB power socket.

It's a 11years old small car with over 100k miles, would I Pay 2k for it? Not a chance!
we got a year older jazz last summer with even better MOT history than yours with 104k miles on it for 550pounds.
It took about 2months to find the right example however :) But it really paid off, the car was a minter, 1 owner car and has been faultless so far.
but still 2k is way too much.

Good luck finding the right car for you!
