Everything was working fine until yesterday when the boot lock on my wifes 2003 Jazz failed to operate. Central locking appears to work fine, however boot release handle has no effect, any ideas?

No recollection of anyone with this fault, try a look thru the tailgate section at this link

Have you bought a copy of Haynes Honda Jazz Workshop Manual there is a wealth of info on the tailgate and other pertinent info.
I obtained my copy from "the book daddy" @ £13.47 inc through Amazon book section, absorbing read.

Have you tried unlocking it with the key in the lock (I take it your Jazz has a remote)?

Is there a way of opening the boot from inside (see the manual)? Some cars have a release from inside the boot incase someone get's trapped inside!
