Tyre wear
« on: March 29, 2019, 10:41:14 AM »
Hi

Just done 20k and 2 years on 4  continental ecocontact 5 tyres. Backs still very good, however fronts scrubbed off on outside. MOT next week, we will see if they pass.
Now don't say its down to your driving or Alignment out as both are 'normal' with Alignment and camber checked regularly with no adjustment needed.
Was quite disappointed with this wear on the fronts.

Suggest you increase the pressure  by about 2psi

It will hold the tyre more upright.

Mine scuffed the side corners. And this helped alot

If tyres are over-inflated the centre part of tread wears the most, if under inflated the opposite happens. When front tyre tread scrubs on one side it is normally tracking or driving style.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Are they feathering the tread, or is it just uneven wear?

If you can detect any feather on the tread, it must be alignment.
