Title: 2011 Honda Jazz Ex cvt misting up, is this common ?
Post by: guest7155 on October 13, 2017, 02:38:10 PM
Hi, I have recently bought a 2011 Honda Jazz Ex Cvt, I have a real problem with it misting up. The other day, the screen misted up and it became quite dangerous , as I couldn't see a thing. Is this a common problem with these ?
Any help and advice much appreciated, thank you

Hi, Woody. Check for water in the spare wheel well. The Jazz is famous for water gathering in the spare wheel well after leaking in past the rails on the roof., so that's a good place to start.
Another issue I have had, with other makes, is water gathering in the cabin air intake (below the windscreen). There are drain pipes either side, to allow rain and the like to run out, but they sometimes get blocked by leaf debris (especially at this time of year). If the water cannot get away it gets into the heater matrix where it vaporises, before condensing on the inside of the windows.
If all else fails do what I do and keep a couple of 1 kg bags of silica gel in the car. That helps a treat.

Probably best to check the pollen filter first.

Check that the cabin air intake is not set to 'recirculate' as in this position the fug in the car is full of moisture and no fresh air is entering the car.
Use the aircon.

Vic.

As your car is a later model it should be dry in the spare wheel well, but it might be worth checking that the door rubber seals have not been split by a roof rack clip.  Misting is a result of moisture in the car, either by wet clothes (or dog) or by rain.  I endorse checking the cabin filter for leaf debris - the glove box liner should just pull out to enable you to access it.

You may well find keeping the air controls on outdoor rather than recirculate, the fan on 1 or 2 rather than off, and the position on screen+feet as standard will prevent the misting build up to the level where you have to blast the screen clear.

Have you got the air flow on recycle? as I have found that can cause the problem.
If you have the air flow from outside and you don't have any of the other mentioned problems you should be ok.

Hi

Try and cut back on 'over strenuous activity' in the car, or open window slightly !
