New Jazz owner with question about keys and general issues
« on: June 25, 2020, 10:57:32 PM »
Hi All!

Proud new owner of a 2014 Honda Jazz and so far initial impressions are very good. Had a couple of initial questions about it though:

  • The car only came with one key. Although I've seen websites that can send out a new copy which will fit the lock and I can programme the remote, as I understand it the transponder still wouldn't be registered? From the websites I could get a key for about £50 whereas I've had a quote from an auto locksmith to do the full works for £190. Am I right in thinking for a new spare key I need the expensive option and does that sound a reasonable price?
  • Just also wondering what tends to go wrong on this model of Jazz and if there's any maintenance I can do to avoid it. For example, on my old Corsa leaves tended to block the drainage channels and funnel water into the ECU in a rather destructive sort of way. Any little quirks like that?

Many thanks and much looking forward to my Jazz ownership!
Tom

I've had 2 Mk2 Jazzes and they were virtually trouble free. My 2010 model had a problem with water ingress into the boot cavity and this was not unknown for the Jazz. In my case it was a leaky tail-light seal and was easily and cheaply fixed by a local bodywork specialist.

Speak to a Honda dealer.

The basic key is cheaper than the remote fob.

I paid £210 complete and installed for the remote fob from a Honda dealer.

You need to get a spare key.

It will be cheaper in the end!

Can Timpson's clone these Honda transponders?
