Title: Serviced today.
Post by: Jocko on September 29, 2018, 03:27:09 PM
My son-in-law eventually got round to servicing my car today. All he replaced was the oil and filter, but he checked the brake pads, drive belt etc, as I had checked the rest myself. I bought the materials and he charged £10 for his time.
Before he arrived I took car for an "Italian Tune Up", to warm up the oil and get rid of crud. I took it for a 27 mile run, half on dual carriageways and the rest on country roads, keeping the revs above 3,000 for the duration. On the dual carriageways it was 5th gear but on the country roads it was all 3rd and 4th gear stuff. Averaged 48 mph for the 27 mile trip. It was great fun.
One chappy, in a 16 plate Jazz, must have thought my pants were on fire, as I blasted past him, on a short B road straight, with the revs well up.
It won't have done a lot for this tankful's mpg figures!
Later I went for my usual Saturday jaunt and I swear the car felt smoother. Maybe just in the mind but I think the blast made a difference.

Despite my boy racer morning I still managed 52.2 mpg (ScanGauge) for yesterday's 120 miles driven.
A lot better than today's 24.3 mpg.
