My wife has suggested that, for my 70th, she give me a Knockhill Trackday experience, this time the performance driving training in the Civic Type R. 17 laps, with 1:1 tuition. I have done the rallying and the single seaters before, and both were brilliant. I also fancy the skid control training and the 4x4 off road. She could get the latter two for the price of the performance course. But it would be nice to throw the Type R round a race track.

Having worked for a major British 4 x 4 company for 44 years, I can highly recommend the off-road course, doing things that you would have thought totally impossible, without a Centurion tank or a boat. It's a whole different ball game, compared to racing around a track.👍

My son-in-law did the 4x4 course and had a great time.

Just realised how sexist my choice of title is, especially when the last track day experience I attended was for my step-daughter, for whom we got a Ferrari driving day.

Whatever you choose, have fun, Jocko! And ... for this day leave your ScanGauge at home. ;)

Without a doubt. The single seaters were great. Some fast laps in a SEAT Cupra with the instructor, then let out on your own, to go as fast as you dared!
