tyre sealant expired
« on: August 13, 2015, 10:15:19 PM »
Would value some advise please, car was in for service and MOT today and said that the tyre sealant had expired and needed a replacement at about £66 which I thought was ridiculous, whilst it seems that this does not affect the MOT I was looking for some advice as an alternative. Many thanks.

I just used mine for the first time when I had a puncture last week - the tyre fitter who sorted the new tyre out advised me to get another bottle of the gunk from a local motor factors at a fraction of the Honda price.
Would still prefer a spare tyre ..... >:(

just get a can of tyre weld for £6 it inflates the tire all in one operation so less mess that the honda one, i never replaced my origional tyre stuff

if you pick up a nail in your tyre i usually get it repaired very quickly and keep pumping the tyre up in the mean time i would only use the tyre weld as a very last resort

i have only had one blow out in over 30 years of driving as a piece of metal got picked up by the front tyre and cut the back one. i had a space saver at the time and that was a pain to get home as i was a long way from home and had to travel at reduced speed on the motorway

The tyre sealant bottle was brand new when I bought the car, but I bought a spare wheel and don't need it, it has an expire date of 01/2019. however you don't seem to be certain about it so, as they say on Dragons Den 'I'm out' and will withdraw the offer.

Yeah, my tyre sealant and expired at my last service and was recommended that i change it but still not done anything about it.

Agreed that you should just buy one from Halfords or the likes for a fraction of the price.
