Hill Start Assist - not
« on: August 10, 2015, 07:49:39 PM »
I bought a 5 month old (2015 model) Jazz 1.4ES Plus CVT recently from Motorpoint and am delighted with the car which replaced a 2005 model with 120,000 miles I'd had since new. One of the many new features mentioned in the sales brochure I was looking forward to was the Hill Start Assist function. However after driving the car a few times I could not sense any assist on hill starts. I called my local dealer who took the car in for a day and then told me they were now in discussions with Honda and I would need to bring the car back for further checks requested by Honda. This was done and after another day in the dealer they confirmed the car does not have Hill Start Assist and it is a misprint in the brochure! For anyone with a 2014 model it should have Hill Start Assist but this feature was dropped from the 2015 model. I called Honda Customer Services to complain but because I bought the car from a non-Honda dealer they are not prepared to offer any compensation. So if anyone has a 2015 model bought from a Honda dealer and was expecting Hill Start Assist give Honda a call on 0845 200 8000! I'm still delighted with my 3rd Jazz since 2002. I'm quite happy to continue using the handbrake. :)

Same car, as yours........ My hill start assist/ brake hold, took a bit of finding. But it works!

Follow this....... http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=7131.msg32340#msg32340

Frankly, I'd rather still use the handbrake.........

Now I'm even more confused. Honda tell me the 2015 model does not have Hill Start Assist? Does your car hold for 2 seconds on a steep hill?

Once you have stopped, press the footbrake fairly hard, like an emergency stop (so more pressure than a usual stop) the car should be held when you release the footbrake, and then you can just drive away with the accelerator.

Yes, it does!
Though, I still prefer to hold it on the handbrake, and not have to transfer my foot between pedals.

Ozzie's technique, is the correct one.

David, from what I've been told by Honda could it be that your "2015" model is actually a "2014" model? I'm trying to understand why your 2015 works and my 2015 doesn't?

Hi smunley.

I have the FACTORY CAR REGISTRATION certificate. Dated 08/01/2015 - 12:11:05. I don't know, if this is the start of build, or despatch.

Prior to buying this one. I test drove a 2015 model at my local dealers.

I commented to the Sales Lady, on the lack of gear change paddles, as fitted to my Nov. 2013 Yaris. ("Same" car, different manufacturer).
She hadn't realised, they were no longer fitted!

Eventually, this internal email memo was found........

The comment was. "These are the only changes, for 2015".......

David,

Thanks for that information. It's time I went back to Honda for an explanation!

Funny, you should ask that, Richard!  :o

(Though perhaps not quite, what you intended).

Rarely used...... Mine failed to work, on the last two times I tried!
