Jazz Mk3 spare wheel
« on: February 15, 2015, 03:06:18 PM »
The jazz wheels are 16inch but an aluminum spare of this diameter will not fit in the spare well. The jazz 14 inch wheel fits the 4-bolt 4 inch PCD. and centre diameter  but fouls the brake caliper on the front hub. A 15 inch steel wheel fits both the boot with something like a 155x55x15 tyre and has enough internal room not to foul any gear. There is such a wheel, I know as I managed to find one in a breakers skip, the trouble is I don't know what car it came from. The one problem is that the centre diameter is slightly larger than the centralizing spigot on the hub however I mean to overcome this with a machined spacer designed to stay in the steel wheel centre. I feel this is a desirous remedy to that damn puncture repair gloop, normally costing a new tyre, at least my wheel will get me to the nearest puncture repair shop!!! The exercise cost me £35 including balance.

And how would you fit a 155x55x14  tyre on a 15 inch wheel...?  ???

If you are looking for a spacesaver wheel in a breakers yard get one from a Rover 25 or 45, it will fit perfectly. This is a result of deal between Honda and Rover in the 1980's. I believe the Rover 45 was a re-badged Honda Civic with cosmetic changes and a rover engine.

First of all, a full size 185/55R16 fits perfectly in the spare wheel well, I have one in there right now with rags filling the additional space!
The Rover 25 space saver can be used (125/80R15).
The other 2 tyre sizes on full size wheels are 175/65R15 or 185/55R16.
The 14" wheels are from a GD Jazz.
A word of advise, do not play around with different wheel sizes, you can end up in all sorts of bother with ditches and insurance companies.
The centre hole of the wheel must be 56mm, otherwise it is not correct. Mini one wheels will also fit.

Oops, sorry for the 15 inch typo Jazzik, I was so excited that I could suggest a wheel whereas Honda couldn't. Thanks for all the other info from the rest of you.
