what is the maximum mileage Honda Jazz 2010 can achieve
« on: January 26, 2020, 10:15:52 PM »
Hi Guys,

I have a offer to buy honda jazz 2010 having mileage of 250,000 Km. This car belongs to a instructor.

I am a beginner having provisional licence. My annual mileage would be very small. I am looking to use this car for 2-3 years only.
So i would like to know much more miles/Km can this car run without any major break down.

Thanks

One of the members on here - Ozzie - had a Mk2 Hybrid and I think that did 250,000 miles so 400,000 km give or take. That was a driving school car so had a tough life so the Jazz can last very well.

Jazzes are pretty strong mechanically, I wouldn't be afraid of high miles at the right price.

Just passed our mk1 onto our daughter who is learning to drive, it's done 171,000+ miles, I guess thats around 275,000 km. It still has plenty of life left, and I'm pretty sure it's not about to fall to bits just yet.

If memory serves, on Ozzie's car, it was the CVT that started playing up at 250,000 miles. Honda engines are like the Terminator, pretty well indestructible.

Ask the owner about the service history & go through the invoices, then look around the car tyres good make condition, exhaust etc take along someone who knows cars to help your decision.
Overall  high mileage = warm engine - thats good.

Just to clarify. it was a driveshaft fault that ruined the gearbox, in hindsight I was teaching a lass who lived in a rural lane and we had hit a few deep potholes on a flooded road the previous week, so I think that was the final straw, at 256,000 miles, one owner, 7 years use as a tuition car, approx. 250 driving test passes. It lasted well, had a tough life and owed me nothing, so I bought another straight away.

Ours (2009 Jazz Sport GE8) has done 320,000 to date with no mechanical issues.

Perhaps the question should really be 'What is the minimum mileage a Honda Jazz 2010 can achieve?'

Out of interest, among the high milers here, what is the rust like on your cars?

My 2006 Mk 1, with 124,000 miles, 200,000 kilometres has rust on the rear wheel arches and a little round the hatch lock. The underside has surface rust but the MOT inspector reckons it is good for another 5 years or so.

Don't they use kilometres in New Zealand ? Which would make that about 200.000 miles

Our 2008 (171K+ miles) is showing signs at the site of a previous wheelarch scrape, a repair of dubious quality. However, the tinwork is solid and it will be attended to properly this spring... the joys of having a retired panel beater/sprayer friend.

Underside is pretty good, some surface rust at the rear of the tub, the favourite spot in front of the rear axle. The sills and rear axle mounting areas are all good.

It's age and location that generally determines the rust, seaside cars rust suprisingly quickly if the underside is neglected when washing.

My car is seaside. It appears it has never been owned by anyone more than 10 miles from the Firth of Forth.

We are lucky in NZ, no salt on the roads.. zero rust on ours.
