Steel wheels will last longer in winter use, if you intend to keep the car get steel rims in 175/65R15 as advised. never had to have steel rims refurbished due to corrosion - but on alloys the corrosion creeps under the paint and bubbles, corrosion also went under the tyre bead on a couple and caused slow air loss ( about 5 PSI per week ) - costs at least £50 per rim to get alloys refurbished, if they are diamond cut you can double that. A plus with steel wheels is that they protect the brakes better from winter salt and corrosion.
