radio reception cutting out
« on: April 23, 2018, 10:09:50 PM »
Recently the radio on my 2004 Sport CVT has started to play up. works perfectly then cuts out/crackles as though the signal has gone out of range/strength - but the car is parked. Does this with and without the engine running but if a CD is left in the player but the radio switched on it seems to improve slightly. Anyone got any ideas other than the radio has had it...CD works perfectly.

Might be worth checking the connection to the antenna. Roof mounted ones are prone to leaks, the wiring can become corroded and break off.

There were a few threads about this a while ago; the voltage regulator chip in the radio goes faulty. If you can replace it yourself or find a repair shop to do it the part is only a few quid from ebay. Unlikely to be the antenna if your parked.

Oh yes, you're right. I remember reading about that one now.
